The International Coaching Course has been existing since 1964.
Since then, more than 5500 physical education teachers and coaches from more than 150 countries have participated in the Internationalen Coaching Course.
Origins
The International Coaching Course was founded in 1964. Until the political change in 1989/90, it was conducted at the former German University of Physical Education (DHfK) in a similar but not identical form as today.
After the DHfK had been terminated and the Sports Science Faculty at Leipzig University had been founded, the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany started funding the International Coaching Course. Since then, it has been part of the foreign cultural and educational policy of the Federal Foreign Office and has met with a great response worldwide.
In 2020, ITK experienced a premiere. The globally ongoing pandemic forced us to rethink at lightning speed and transform an in-class study course into an online format. However, this is not to be for long and we hope to return to our tried and trusted format in 2022.
