Partnership for Excellence - Centres of Vocational Excellence
The project ‘Shaping Talents and Achieving Vocational Excellence in Sports (STARS)’ aims to transform sports education and training. It brings together ministries, sports schools, sports federations and clubs, as well as expert companies. The first Erasmus+ model of a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in the field of sports will empower athletes, set new standards and build a bridge between science, sports institutions and the professional world. Through this intensive collaboration, innovative methodologies and extensive research, STARS will achieve a sustainable impact, leaving a lasting legacy in sports training and shaping the future of sports professionals by promoting excellence across Europe.
Main objectives
- Regional development, innovation and smart specialisation strategies in the sports sector by introducing a bottom-up approach that makes the project a positive change and sustainable initiative for the sports sector.
- Continuous training and re-skilling of sport professionals and athletes by identifying specific skills gaps and providing high-quality training aligned with the key competences for the job and current needs.
- Innovative and sustainable forms of skills partnerships to support an inclusive and sustainable economy in the sport sector.

- Promoting inclusion, equality and diversity in the sport sector and ensuring access and participation through the design and development of building blocks with a focus on open sports schools.
- Establishing support programmes for sport professionals, athletes and learners to enhance their employment opportunities through dual careers, career guidance, validation of prior and informal learning and professional reorientation.
Increase the quality and attractiveness of the sport sector at European, national, regional and local level by promoting health and fitness to a wider population through innovative approaches and awareness-raising campaigns, and by supporting healthy lifestyles for all.
