INTRODUCTION OF OUR COURSES (SPECIALISATION SUBJECT)

ITK Football 2019 in Arabic

You choose a type of sport, which matches your previous knowledge and your current occupation. You can get from our course program, at which time we offer which type of sport or specialisation and in which language.

In our study programme we focus on the holistic education and training of children appropriate to their age and development.
When working with children in sports, you have many tasks: You train, teach and organise, impart expert knowledge, lend a sympathetic ear and give advice. In short, you adopt many roles and you serve as a valuable role model, especially for young, sports-enthusiastic children during their most formative phase of life. Therefore, it is our primary goal to train you for this important task.

After graduating from our course, you will be enabled to plan and guide training sessions as well as different training stages, so that the kids you work with obtain the best possible sporting development according to their individual level of performance and thereby achieve their age-appropriate training goals. You will be able to share your acquired knowledge and to plan and implement measures of (advanced) training for instructors, coaches and physical education teachers. Moreover, you will learn how to apply the acquired knowledge, abilities and skills considering the peculiar conditions of your home country at different ages and performance levels. In addition, we will familiarize you with scientific working methods so that in the future you will be able to put scientific findings into practice yourself.

Aims of the specialisation “Kids in motion”

After graduating from the coaching course, you will be able to:

  • transfer knowledge of didactical topics to the fields of activity of a kids’ coach
  • independently and purposefully plan, implement and reflect on training sessions, taking heterogeneity into account
  • demonstrate the basic techniques of various exercises and to apply forms of assistance and safeguarding
  • apply knowledge in order to plan and to control training and competition operations in accordance with age ranges in the framework of a long-term performance development and/or to develop an age- and development-appropriate competition system for clubs and schools
  • learn to critically scrutinize and reflect on the role of a coach working with kids

Exercising and sports as a tool for education, health or violence prevention are rarely supported by governmental sports policy. The integration of sports into communities promotes social and political participation and can also convey an understanding of the basics of democracy and an inclusive society without exclusion, racism and discrimination. This particularly becomes possible if clubs and school sports are promoted and financially supported at a local level.
In our key countries, we therefore encourage interministerial cooperation, for example between sports-, education- and health ministries, we promote cooperations between sports associations and school ministries and advise the latter on to establish and expand sports-related development programmes and organisational structures, so they can become active parts of civil society.

In order to achieve the above-mentioned goals, after graduating from the course you will know

  • how to scout talents and how to transfer them to club sports
  • how to initiate inclusive projects with children and juveniles and how to promote sports for girls and women

Moreover, you will be able to

  • independently elaborate concepts on sporting development/framework training plans
  • conceptualise and implement educational measures in order to provide further education to coaches and instructors in clubs as well as physical education teachers in a school context.
  • independently elaborate concepts for establishing sustainable regional structures in sports for all, concepts for sports offers at schools and/or cooperations between schools and clubs, events and (school-) club festivals
  • independently establish and implement cooperation agreements among clubs, associations and institutions

People with a disability need specifically qualified coaches to support them on their pathway to rehabilitation or lead them to competitive practice – a field of activity of growing importance that opens up a wide range of job opportunities for experts in physical education and sports. Back home, ITK graduates fill positions that enable a further development of disability sports in schools, clubs and in cooperation with rehabilitation.

TARGETS of ITK Disability Sports

During the course, among other things, psychological peculiarities as well as didactic concepts of disability sports as recreational, competitive and elite sports; methods of designing sessions in disability and rehabilitation sports and fundamentals of specific types of sports for disabled persons are addressed.
